Skates wears his favorite No. 94 to commemorate the Chicago Wolves Inaugural Season. In 2002, he helped the Wolves capture the Calder Cup in their first year in the American Hockey League.   Skates loves spending time in the community raising funds for Chicago area charities and meeting fans with former Wolves goaltender Wendell Young. he is especially proud of helping his fellow animals with the Wolves Adopt-A-Dog program, which placed 98 dogs in new homes in 2001-2002.   During the off-season, Skates spends his time suntanning, going to concerts at the Allstate Arena, going to water parks, and golfing.
